Amsterdam Winds
The repair and restoration of wind instruments is a craft that has nearly become extinct. And just a few dare to try and make a living from it because it requires experience, pride, patience, and true love for music to restore a wind instrument. In Amsterdam - close to the Vondelpark - you can still find these qualities in a shop called Amsterdam Winds. This is the place where you can buy some wonderful wind instruments.

Friso of Amsterdam Winds is a perfectionist. He fixes your horn, you play it and think, 'It doesn't get any better than this.' After listening carefully to the sound Friso comments, 'I think I can make some improvements.' He alters a couple of things, you play it again, and it's even better!
- Peter Guidi

The Amsterdam Free Winds Saxophone - Finally, a newly built sax that plays like the future and sounds like the past in a very soulful way.
- Candy Dulfer
Friso listens carefully to the sound and is able to adjust the horn towards the desires of the musician.
I think he is a real craftsman!

Amsterdam Winds is my home away from home.
- Dick Oatts
The Amsterdam Free Wind alto is a great instrument that has the feel and depth of an old horn and the intonation and balance of a new horn.
- Jaleel Shaw
The first thing that hit me about the new Amsterdam Winds alto is how well it resonates. It really sings! It's got a big warm sound and plays very well in tune also. What more do you want? I strongly recommend checking it out.
- Chris Potter
I got saxual and clarinetical healing here!
- Eddie Daniels

The Amsterdam Free Wind Saxophone
As a highly respected and in-demand repairman Friso Heidinga soon came to realize that there was a space in the market for a top quality, professional saxophone that would feature a modern keyboard and action, yet played free, flexible, evenly and in tune. Friso asked tattoo artist Henk Schiffmacher to create a uniquely Amsterdam-inspired engraving for the Free Wind Saxophone.
The result was an instrument worthy of the name Amsterdam Free Wind Saxophone.
