Masterclass by François Louis
François Louis has a reputation of being one of the best mouthpiece makers for the saxophone in the world. Among others, he designed mouth pieces for Joe Lovano, Chris Potter, Tim Ries, Dave Sanchez and the (unfortunately deceased) Bob Berg.
In a short period of time, his Ultimate Ligature has become the almost most famous reed binder among saxophone players. Recently, he designed a revolutionary new saxophone on which several tones can be played at the same time, the Aulochrome. Moreover, François is an extremely gifted saxophone and flute player.
François gave an inspiring and very informative talk about the science of a saxophone and the mouthpiece and the influence and effects of the construction of the instruments and the mouthpieces on the sound. After that, François revised the mouthpieces of several of our clients.
